It’s the Canada Day long weekend….are you ready? Got the burgers and fixings, the sunscreen and fly spray? Ready for a bonfire or a paddle across the lake? Whatever you have planned for this weekend, it’s a great time to reflect on this great country we live in and be thankful. Let’s check out what’s happening on the South Shore this weekend.

There’s a lot happening on the South Shore this weekend and we thought a list might be helpful. There’s nothing worse than hearing about a great event AFTER it happened…so we’re filling you in on the goings on. 🙂

What’s Happening on the South Shore June 28, 2019

June 28- Chester Farmers and Artisan Market 

The Chester Farmers and Artisan Market is welcoming three new vendors to our market. Jamrock Café & Catering is going to be there with jerk chicken and delicious tastes of Jamaica. Sue from A Frayed Knot will also be joining us with painted shells, and cards and little paintings. For the first time as well Violet Garden will have bouquets and felting and craft kits. Rain or shine. 9:00am-1:00pm

June 28th: Nicola Miller Quartet live at King Street Beer Co.

Love Jazz? Well, It’s Jazz Night at King Street! Join The Nicola Miller Quartet Friday the 28th at 7pm and unwind from your week with a cold one and let the musicians take you on a journey into the world of Jazz. 7:00pm-9:00pm

Privateers Farmers Market– 9:00am-1:00pm

West Dublin Market– 9:00am-12:00pm

New Ross Country Market– 9:00am-12:00pm

June 29th- Mahone Bay Markets

Every Saturday afternoon in Mahone Bay (weather permitting) from May to September shop craft & food vendors at local venues. Saturday Afternoon Markets at The Biscuit Eater Cafe and Bookstore! 3:00pm-7:00pm

What’s Happening on the South Shore June 30, 2019

June 30- Rural Roots Market, New Ross

RURAL ROOTS MARKET is open EVERY SUNDAY from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Entrance of Ross Farm Museum until September 29.  Fresh Produce from Local Farms, Cured Meats & Cheeses, Fresh Baked Bread, Locally Produced Crafts, Live Entertainment, Weekly How-to Demonstrations, Picnic Tables with Games and order a Ploughman’s Lunch.  For more info visit:  ruralrootsmarket.ca.     

June 30th- Summer Concert Series- Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society

The Summer Concert Series offers free weekly concerts on Sundays at 2pm at the Heritage Bandstand in Lunenburg. A great event to attend with friends and family!

June 30- Chester Bandstand Summer Concert Series

Chester Bandstand Summer Concert presents “Chester Brass Band” starting 7:00 pm.  Children are welcome to dance on the grass. Adults may want to bring a lawn chair. What’s happening on the South Shore July 1, 2019

July 1st- Canada Day Breakfast- Wile’s Lake Farm Market

As has been their tradition for over 25 years, Wile’s Lake Farm Market will be hosting their annual Canada Day breakfast.  Partnering with the Wileville Fire Department, they serve pancakes, muffins, and coffee from 8:30 am until 10:30 am. This is a free-will donation event, with all proceeds going to the fire department. Start your Canada Day celebrations at Wile’s Lake Farm Market. 

July 1st: Canada Day Breakfast- The Legion in Bridgewater, 7:00am-11:00am

July 1st- Canada Day on the Lahave, Bridgewater

Shipyards Landing will be host to a daytime multicultural extravaganza on Canada Day.  Starting at 11:00am, there will be everything from music to art to activities to delicious and diverse foods. Once things wrap up at Shipyards Landing around 5 p.m, head on over downtown for the Canada Day King Street Kitchen Party and fireworks that evening.

July 1- Canada Day in New Germany

Canada Day in New Germany is not to be missed. Parades, ox pulls, garden party and more and they end the day off in style with a fireworks show. A full day of events and activities!

July 1-  Garden Party, Chester

Garden Party at the Chester Train Station (20 Smith Road) RAIN OR SHINE.  Starting 3:30 pm with Games for all Ages – Music – Food – Parade of Lights and Fireworks will go off at the Chester Yacht Club around 9:30 pm. For more info, call Carol Nauss 902-275-3826 or email: canauss@tallships.ca

July 1- New Ross Canada Day Celebrations

New Ross Canada Day Celebrations at the New Ross Fair Grounds.  Costume Parade 1:30 pm and judging at 1:45 pm.  Opening ceremonies, Costume prizes and Official Cake Cutting from 2:00 to 2:30 pm.  Live Music from 2:30 to 10:00 pm and Fireworks start 10:15 pm.  Raindate is the next day, same place and same time.  During the day there will be children’s games, pony rides, booths – hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ chicken, French fries and poutine, ice cream, fish & chips, water, pop, a beer garden and bingo.
