It’s the spookiest weekend of the year…..and the South Shore has all kind of fun events, for kids of all ages to take part in. Trunk-or-Treats, Halloween Parties, Scavenger Hunts and more! What’s Happening on the South Shore Friday October 30th, 2020

Oct 30 – Clickity Clack Knitting Group (Bridgewater)

Calling all knitters and crocheters, experienced or learning. You are invited to Clickty-Clack Knitting Group this Friday from 10am-12pm at the DesBrisay Museum. Instruction for beginners and socialization for the more experienced knitters. Some supplies are available and lots of patterns for beginners. Join them for a relaxing morning of knitting/crocheting and chatting.

Oct 30 – Free Skate at Lunenburg Arena (Lunenburg)

Town of Lunenburg invites you to a free skate this Friday from 3-4:30pm n celebration of the Arena opening and a “thank you” to the 2016-2020 members of Council! Please see full Facebook event for all the COVID-19 Protocols in play.

Oct 30-31 – Hallowe’en Scavenger Hunt (Shelburne)

The Shelburne Municipal Recreation & Parks invite your to take a stroll down some of their trails! The Roseway River Halloween Scavenger Hunt and the Jordan River Trail Halloween Rocks are still happening until Nov 1st.

Oct 30 – Drive In Movie at the MARC (Dayspring)**CANCELLED

District of Lunenburg Recreation Department excited to announce their pre-Halloween Drive-in Movie . Join them for a free showing of Hotel Transylvania. The movie will start at dusk; parking is limited so you encouraged to buddy up in cars! Audio will come in over your car radio so bring your blankets and snacks and enjoy! Donations for PRO Kids is encouraged.

Oct 30 – Ludwig 7 the LAMP (Lunenburg)

Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance invites you to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Beethoven with a special concert series. This Friday LAMP presents the Piano Sonatas performed by Walter Delahunt, Marika Bournaki, David Potvin, Lala Lee, Ian Tomaz and Tong Wang. All concerts begin at 7 pm unless otherwise noted. Attendance will be capped at 50 with attendees seated in bubbles of one-to-four persons. Oct 30 & 31 – South Shore Drive In Hallowe’en Double Features (Liverpool)

South Shore Drive In is celebrating Hallowe’en with two Double Feature evenings. Friday Night – 1st Movie is Halloweentown: When Grandma Aggie comes visiting, the Piper children notice her use magic. Curious, they follow her back to Halloweentown where Aggie and their mother Gwen are attacked by the dark forces. Friday Night- 2nd Movie is House on Haunted Hill: An amusement park mogul offers a group of diverse people $1000000 to spend the night in a haunted house with a horrifying past.

Saturday Night– 1st Movie is Nightmare before Christmas: Jack Skellington, a being from Halloween Town, finds Christmas Town and is instantly enchanted. The situation becomes riveting when his obsession with Christmas leads him to abduct Santa Claus. Saturday Night- 2nd Movie is Night of the Living Dead: The radiation from a fallen satellite causes the recently deceased to rise from the grave and seek the living to use as food.
Admission for each night is $20 per vehicle. Show times start at dusk, usually around 7:15pm, concessions and washrooms are available. Golden tickets are not usable for special showings. 

Oct 30 – Freaky Friday Costume Party (New Germany)

The New Germany Legion couldn’t have their usual Halloween Dance this year, so they compromised where they could and present Freaky Friday Costume Party! So come, and dress up starting at 7pm. Play some cards, pool, darts and see some friendly faces. Snacks will be for sale with enough event interest. Covid Rules will be followed, please read all signage posted. This event is for Legion members and friends

Oct 30 – Roadside Scarecrow Band live at FirkenStein (Bridgewater)

FirkenStein Brewing gets you ready for Hallowe’en weekend with the Roadside Scarecrow Band this Friday. Playing Rock, Blues, Folk and a tiny bit of country, there is a little something for everyone. Music starts at 8pm. $5 cover at the door

Oct 30 – Halloween Maskerade at Mulligan’s (Bridgewater)

Mulligans Sports Bar is hosting a Halloween Maskerade party this Friday. This is going to be an awesome Halloween costume party! Halloween themed music, costume prizes, drink specials, come have fun and celebrate!! Doors open at 8PM, $10 cover at the door Music by DJ Danimal

Oct 31 – YMCA Trick or Treat Trot 5km Fun Run/Walk (Bridgewater)

On Saturday, the Lunenburg County YMCA will host its 2020 YMCA Trick or Treat Trot 5K Fun-run and Walk. A family-friendly event deigned to encourage families to get out and be active, participants are invited to dress in spooky attire and take a step toward improving their own health and well-being. This years event will consist of scheduled time-slots for participants in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines. You will be contacted with a start-time at registration. You may also support our event by participating virtually in your own community.

Oct 31 – Halloween at the LCLC (Bridgewater)

Head over to the LCLC this Saturday for a spooky good time. All kinds of events are taking place; toonie skate, costume parade, fishing for treats, pumpkin painting and more!

Oct 31 – Halloween Extravaganza (Western Shore)

Western Shore & Area Improvement Association is hosting a Halloween Extravaganza this Saturday. Head to the Hall from 5pm-6:30 for treats, make your way to the Western Shore Fire Hall and then on to the “Together We Can Park” in Gold River for more fun. A great part of what’s happening on the South Shore this weekend.

Oct 31 – Trunk or Treat Wilson’s Home Hardware (Barrington Passage)

Wilson’s Home Hardware Building Centre is hosting their annual Trunk or Treat is this Saturday 5-7pm in Barrington Passage. Want to join us and hand out treats? Click the here to register.

Oct 31 – Trunk And Treat – Through the Years Day Care And Community Centre (Hubbards)

Through the Years Day Care And Community Centre is hosting a COVID-19 safe Trunk & Treat on Saturday, October 31st from 10am- Noon. It’s $20.00 per family. There are 40 spots available, that must be reserved ahead of the date, that will be spaced 6 feet apart, to give treats out from your trunk and trick or treat. Without the reservation, you can just come to trick or treat on the lane. Either option is $20 per family. To reserve a spot, please email.

Shelburne’s 2020 Trunk & Treat will be held at the Community Centre Parking Lot, on Saturday. This year’s event will look just a little different however, we are grateful this event is able to happen.*All gathering limits and public health directives will be strictly adhered to* Masks are required and social distancing expected.

Oct 31 – Trunk or Treat at the Black Loyalist Heritage Centre (Shelburne)

The Black Loyalist Heritage Centre is holding a Trunk or Treat at the centre this Saturday! Be sure to stop by for some Halloween treats! Oct 31 – 3rd Annual South Shore Trunk-or-Treat COVID Edition (Bridgewater)

Wentzell Events presents the 3rd Annual South Shore Trick or Trunk event at the LCLC this Saturday. Come out and bring the whole family for some spook-tacular and safe Halloween fun between 2pm-4pm. All are welcome! Due to the world situation at this time, this year’s event will look a little different. Please review the guidelines in the Facebook Event. Oct 31 – Free Kids Pumpkin Carving at BW Market (Bridgewater)

The Bridgewater Farmers Market is hosting a Free Kids Pumpkin Carving event this Saturday. This is a free activity for children 5-years or older. Parents/guardians are required to be present and supervise their children.It is highly recommended that parents/guardians register to ensure there is adequate space and enough pumpkins. Please register with one ticket per family and select and add-on for each participating child beyond one. (Ex. for three children/pumpkins, select one ticket and two add-ons.) Please come prepared to wipe/clean your child(ren)’s hands etc. We do not have public washrooms available at the site.

Oct 31 – Gertie Matheson “Mouse House” Photgraphy Exhibit (Chester)

Chester Art Centre invites you to the opening of Gertie Matheson’s “Mouse House” Photography Exhibit. A part of the Inspired Youth Series, the exhibit opens Saturday night from 4-8pm. “Gertie imagines and then creates miniature worlds inhabited by small animals, the more you look the more detail you see”. Tour through Gertie’s exhibit in your costume and then explore the spooky trick or treating in the backyard!

Oct 31 – Halloween Spooky Stations Trick or Treat at Chester Art Centre (Chester)

The Chester Art Centre is hosting a Spooky Stations Trick or Treat in their backyard. Head over this Saturday at 4pm, tour through Gertie’s exhibit (see above) in your costume and then explore the spooky trick or treating in the backyard!

Oct 31 – Halloween at the Ex (Barrington)

Barrington Municipal Exhibition invites you to come on down to the Ex for some Halloween fun! Join them this Saturday from 5-9pm. The Canteen will have treats warm and cold, there are games for everyone young and old! Don’t forget the Hayride, but beware the witches and the werewolves! Masks are suggested, please follow social distancing. Admission is by donation, tickets for games and hayride are $0.50 ea or 12 for $5.

Oct 31 – Halloween Full Moon Paddle (LaHave)

Cape LaHave Adventures is hosting a Halloween Full Moon Paddle this Saturday from 5:30-7:30pm. Join them for a spooky and spectacular Halloween Full Moon Paddle! Costumes are highly encouraged!Bring a headlamp & warm non-cotton layers. Due to cooling evening temperatures, we will require all participants paddle tandem kayaks for group safety reasons. $50 to take part, register online.

Oct 31 – Halloween at Lordly Park (Chester)

Celebrate a Covid Halloween at Lordly Park in Chester this Saturday from 5:30-8pm. Watch the Full Moon rise as you check out Haunted “houses”, walk and Trunk or Treat. Line up at side park entrance on Prince Street, you will see ya there…Everyone is welcome. Masks must be worn and social distancing required. You can enjoy the fun with your group “social bubble” that you arrive with.

Oct 31 – Monster Mash at King Street Beer. (Bridgewater)

Oct 31 – Halloween at the FirkenStein with Cut, Split & Delivered (Bridgewater)

Come join Cut, Split & Delivered at the Firk for what is sure to be an incredibly fun Halloween event! Music starts at 9pm til Midnight. You will hear fresh new originals from their upcoming album along with the unique, eclectic mix of songs that we love to play. $5.00 cover charge at the door.

Oct 31 – Halloween with Robbe Bee at Mulligan’s (Bridgewater)

Nov 1 – Macrame Wall Hanging Workshop (Chester)

A Macrame Wall Hanging workshop with with Mikaela Szumigrajat will be held at the Chester Art Centre, Sunday from 1-5pm. Join Mikaela as she provides knot-by-knot instructions to create your very own macrame wall hanging in your choice of colour!  This workshop is designed for intermediate macrame makers but can be tweaked to accommodate any beginners!  All materials will included, and you will get to take home a textured hanging on a piece of Nova Scotia driftwood.
