Sunday morning I usually grab a coffee and take time to catch-up on some stories I may not have had time to read throughout the week.  I thought you might enjoy them with your Sunday morning coffee as well. 

Local creators named finalists in Nova Scotia’s top cultural award

How exciting to have two of the three finalists announced for the 2020 Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia Masterworks Arts Award, be from the South Shore! Congratulations to fabric artist Laurie Swim of Lunenburg, and New Germany poet Alison Smith for being nominated.

The Masterworks Arts Award is the largest cultural award based in Nova Scotia. Each work on the shortlist is awarded a $3,000 finalist prize. The creator of one of the finalist works will then receive the $22,000 winner prize, for a grand total of $25,000.

The joy of Beethoven expressed all week at Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance

The Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance is hosting a series of concerts over the next week with a series of Ludwig @ LAMP concerts featuring well-known Nova Scotia musicians and academy alumni.

LAMP alumnus David Potvin performs a trio of piano sonatas on Tuesday at 7 p.m., including the “Sonata quasi una fantasia” and on Wednesday, Symphony Nova Scotia cellist Rachel Desoer performs an assortment of Beethoven pieces with pianist Ian Tomaz and violinist Katya Poplyansky.

The series finale takes place on Friday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. with pianist Potvin performing Opus 10, No. 2; Opus 26 (Funeral March); and Opus 53 (Waldstein).

Seating for each show at LAMP is limited to 50 people in socially distanced groupings of family or close social contacts, reservations are required. Admission is by pay-what-you-can donation, and seats can be reserved at 902-634-8667.
