What’s Happening on the South Shore this Weekend (Oct 25-27, 2019)

The South Shore will be scaring up all kinds activities this weekend. There is plenty to do for young and old, for those who love a good costume and those that would rather be themselves. Check out our list of what’s happening on the South Shore this weekend, and start making your plans.

What’s Happening on the South Shore Friday Oct 25th

Oct 25th – Haunted Trail (Blandford)

Experience the darker side of the Blandford Community Centre Trail and join in for the Haunted Trail walk. Meet your guide at the outside entrance of the lodge room. Two walks one art 7pm and one at 8pm for older brave souls who don’t mind more scares! May not be suitable for very young. Rain date Saturday, October 26th. No admission, donations welcome. Sponsored by the Aspotogan Recreation Association

Oct 25 – Fall Crop’n’Craft 2019 (Liverpool)

Close To My Heart with Sue Conrad is hosting her Fall Crop’n’Craft 2019 workshop this weekend. You can Scrapbook, make cards, sew, knit, crochet or a little of everything. Weekend fee for your space, treats, Saturday pizza lunch, tea and coffee is $85 per person. Partial weekend is $60, Day Fee is $35. See event for full details.

Oct 25 – Hallowe’en Whispers (Blockhouse)

South Shore Waldorf School hosts Hallowe’en Whispers from 6-9pm. Join them for food and fun for children of all ages! Includes magical forest walks, pony rides, fairy garden, photo booth, outdoor games and crafts. Magical Forest Walk is $5. Crafts and games are 1 – 3 tickets. Tickets are $1 each.

Oct 25 – Washboard Union live at LCLC (Bridegwater)

Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre (LCLC) is proud to welcome The Washboard Union to the stage this Friday. The Washboard Union have shared the stage with Keith Urban, Reba McEntire, Dwight Yokam, and many more. Maritimer Tristan Horncastle warms up the stage beforehand, so get there early. Tickets start at $39.95 and can be purchased via TicketPro.

Oct 25 – Haunted Corn Maze at Indian Garden Farms (Bridgewater)

Indian Garden Farms is bringing back it’s Haunted Corm Maze again this year. Head over between 7-10pm Friday or Saturday to take part in this spooky adventure! They will have a new cast of characters who are sure to SCARE you silly. The cost is $10.00 a person.

Oct 25 – “Downton Abbey” at the Astor (Liverpool)

Catch up with the Crawleys as the Astor Theatre brings “Downton Abbey” to Movie Night. Tickets are at the door only, $10 for evening showings.

Oct 25 – Thomas Stajcer live at Saltbox (Mahone Bay)

Saltbox Brewery is pleased to welcome Thomas Stajcer this Friday. Stajcer draws on his unique voice, love of storytelling and father’s 80s rock and roll to write frank and endearing songs fashioned in the classic themes of country music. Music starts at 7pm, and as always No Cover.

Oct 25 – Freak Friday (Oakhill)

Head to the Oakhill & District Fire Department for Freaky Friday – Hallowe’en Dance. DJ Danimal will be spinning all your favourite halloween beats. This will be a costume party, so plan something awesome with your crew and maybe, just maybe you will walk away with a spook-tacular prize! Tickets $15 & going fast, check event for availability!

Oct 26 – BayBoo! (Mahone Bay)

Head to Bayview Community School for their annual BayBoo Festival! Come and enjoy a silent auction, the witches kitchen, a BBQ, Bayside Pizza, games and much more!! Don’t forget to get dressed up for Halloween!!

Oct 26 – Heritage Tea Party (Bridgewater)

DeBrisay Museum invites you to a Heritage Tea Party. Join them at the museum at 2pm, and enjoy sandwiches, sweets, tea/coffee, and punch. Bring your favourite heirloom to show and tell, plus take part in the Silent Auction. Tickets $10 each, limited seating to 40 people. Purchase in advance at museum or VISA by phone 902-543-4033. Sponsored by the Friends of the DesBrisay Museum society.

Oct 25 – Healing & Holistic Fall Fair 2019 (Bridgewater)

Bluestone Magik – Bridgewater is hosting Healing & Holistic Fall Fair 2019 this weekend at Bridgewater Best Western. Join them this weekend of wellness to explore alternative choices when taking care of your Body, Mind, Spirit and our Environment. Sample Nutritional products, try locally made skin care products and home baked items. Shop from the many creative vendors and artisans. Lots of great Door prizes, Free Talks and Exhibits! Admission $3, Seniors $2, Children 12 & Under are free

Oct 25 – Zombie Walk (Liverpool)

Queens Universally designed play park and Shocktober Fest are inviting you to take part in this years Zombie Walk fundraiser. Collect pledges and come out dressed in your best Zombie outfit and help make the play park a reality. You can register and pick up your pledge sheets at Bruce Inglis Financial Sunlife on Market st. The walk starts at 11:30am, there will be a cash prize sponsored by Liverpool Pizzeria and a gift certificate from Dixie Lee and much more.

Oct 25 – Hallowe’en Dance (Riverport)

Riverport & District Lions Club hosts a Hallowe’en Dance featuring The Blue Rockers. Put on your best costume and head out for some spooky fun. $12.00 per person. Prizes awarded for Best male / female costumes PRE-BOOK Your Safe Drive Home (within 20km)

Oct 26 – Pumpkin Carving at the Bridgewater Market

It’s the last outdoor Bridgewater Market of the season and they are offering free Pumpkin Carving for children. Avoid the mess and let your children carve their pumpkin at the market. Market volunteers collect the “remains” and the local farmers will feed them to their pigs and chickens. Win win! While registration is not required, it is recommended that you fill in a form to ensure that they have enough supplies.

Oct 26 – Hallowe’en Community Day (Port Mouton)

Coastal Queen’s Place & Port Mouton International Hostel is hosting a Hallowe’en Community Day! Start off at the Community Breakfast at West Queens Recreation Centre 8am – 11am Includes: Bacon, sausage, eggs, baked beans, and more cost: $8.00. Next head to the Flea Market, Bake and Craft Sale from 10am – 2pm. Finish the afternoon with a fun time at the Halloween Kids Party (Coastal Queens Place) between 2-4pm. Dress in your costume and join them for games, treats, paint a pumpkin (provided!) and other crafts!

Oct 26 – South Shore Trunk or Treat (Bridgewater)

Come out and bring the whole family for some spook-tacular Halloween fun at our 2nd Annual South Shore Trunk-Or-Treat! All are welcome! Trunk or Treat is a compact, safe, & fun trick-or-treating experience for kids and this year, pets! New this year is prize for best decorated trunk! Other activities include Pumpkin Carving Contest, Pet Activities and more. The fun starts at 5pm at Shipyards Landing.

Oct 26 – Petite Riviere Vineyard 25th Anniversary (Petitie Riviere)

Help Petite Riviere Vineyards celebrate 25 years of grape growing on the South Shore! Turkey Burger Restaurant Food Truck will be serving up delicious snacks and there will be cake! Great wine specials, mini-tours, free admission, sounds like a great way to spend your afternoon.

Oct 26 – Hallowe’en Dance Party (Mahone Bay)

Join the Mahone Bay Centre for the 2nd Annual fundraiser the Screamin’ Fun Halloween Costume Dance Party! Get your advance tickets for $10 @ Kinburn Pharmasave in Mahone Bay or Kinley Drug PharmaChoice in Lunenburg, OR pay $15 at the door. Cash bar and strictly retro funk, pop, and hip hop party jams! Dress up, and plan to have a ghoulishly good time.

Oct 26 – Hallowe’en Dance with 3 A.M. (Western Shore)

Western Shore & District Fire Department is hosting a Hallowe’en Dance! Doors open at 8pm. $10 per person at the door, live entertainment by 3:AM. Cash Bar and Prizes for Best Costume! This event is 19+ must have ID, and show face at door.

Oct 26 – Pumpkin Carving and Bonfire (Gold River)

Gold River is planning all kinds of fun this Saturday. Head to the new Together We Can Community Park (formerly Gold River School) and join in for some pumpkin carving and bonfire. The action starts at 4pm, everyone is welcome.

Oct 26 – Just Here for the BOO’s Hallowe’en Dance (New Germany)

The New Germany Legion hosts it’s yearly Just for the BOOS Hallowe’en shindig, where you can get down with your bad self and party like it’s 1999! Festivities go from 9-1am Tickets are $10, Members get in FREE. Prizes for best costume, this is a 19 years and older event, ID required.

Oct 26 – Rocky Horror Picture Show (Chester)

Let’s do the time warp again……looking for something different, head to the Chester Playhouse theatre for a screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Dress up as your favourite character and follow the adventures of Brad and Janet as they stumble upon a spooky castle, filled with all kinds of characters. Tickets are $10 available here.

Oct 27 – Spirited Away in Lunenburg (Lunenburg)

Spirited Away, a weekend celebration of Nova Scotia Craft Spirit Distillers and the cocktails Lunenburgs finest create with them! Events, workshops, gala and food to be enjoyed. Visit the festival website for full programme and ticket information.

Oct 27 – Kundalini Yoga (Bridgewater)

Anastasia Akasha Kaur Yoga & Wellness and Kindred Spirits Holistic Centre host Kundalini Yoga session. Experience the yoga that is taking the world by storm and transforming lives everywhere. Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan, uses active and passive asana-based kriyas, pranayama, and meditations. The class ends with deep relaxation and healing gong meditation. $18 plus tax – please pre-register .

Oct 27 – Sou’Wester Athletics Hallowe’en Fun Run (Shelburne)

Sou’Wester Athletics and Sou’Wester Athletics, Barrington Passage host the 3rd annual Fun Run. This year its Halloween style and costumes are encouraged. There is a 2K/5K/10K option and you can walk, run or fly! There will be prizes to win and fun for everyone! All $$ raised is for local parks and playgrounds in Shelburne and Barrington area! Please register online at Adults $20 Kids $10

Oct 27 – South Shore Scribes Book Launch “One Word” (Lahave)

LaHave River Books is hosting the South Shore Scribes book launch – One Word. Please join in for the launch of a wonderful initiative from the South Shore Scribes. The South Shore Scribes is a diverse group of writers who meet at the Margaret Hennigar Public Library in Bridgewater to encourage and inspire each other to get words onto pages. All profits from the sale of this book will go to the South Shore Public Libraries Mobile Bus fund.

Oct 27 – Maitland Variety Show Christmas Charity Fundraiser (Maitland)

This annual Maitland Variety Show is put on by the Maritime Motorcycle Touring Association (MMTA) to raise funds to support a number of local charities such as the Children’s Wish Foundation, the Wishing Tree, and the Food Bank. There will be a 50/50 draw, bake auction, and a canteen for refreshments. Should be a great fall day of music and friends. $7 admission fee goes directly to charities.

Oct 27 – Ladies of Country Tribute (Liverpool)

Make your way to the Astor Theatre to hear the legendary Ladies of Country
Music. The all star cast reads as a who’s who of the Atlantic Canada
Music scene playing tribute to some of the greatest female voices of
Country. Show starts at 1pm, Doors open at 12:30pm. Tickets at the door, $10 per person.

South Shore Market Tour

The time has come when we say goodbye to our local weekend markets. The good news is that some will be returning with a holiday twist, and we will make sure to tell you all about it. Get out this weekend and enjoy the last of the harvest season🍎🌽🍞
