Sunday Morning Coffee

Sunday morning I usually grab a coffee and take time to catch-up on some stories I may not have had time to read throughout the week…I thought you might enjoy them as well.

Catch of the day- LighthouseNow

It was nice to see the story of Fisherman’s Picnic General Store in our local paper this week. Love this spot and its products. I wrote about them last year shortly after they opened…if you’re interested in reading or seeing more photos.   Cheers to a successful 2018 for this family!

Meet Liverpool’s book artist- Queens County Advance

I’ve been a fan of La Paperie for quite a while, I think first stumbling upon her beautiful handmade journals while searching on Etsy for Nova Scotia creators. What a beautiful gift for someone…a handmade leather journal with a quote inside from their favorite book or author. Made right here on the South Shore and shipped around the world. Amazing!

You Could Live Here!

122 Oxner Brook, West Dublin, Lunenburg County

Sunday Morning

OK…this place is officially blowing my mind. I have questions…so many times when I look at these amazing properties and you can see the love and attention that went into every detail…and the TIME it must have taken to build…and then they are selling. Why? What happened to the dream? I know there are lots of circumstances that change for ones life…but I am SO curious about some of these homes. Or maybe these are built by people who live in other countries and use these as summer homes and then realize they just don’t get here as much as they thought….which also blows my mind when you see some of the homes here on the South Shore that may only be occupied 2-3 weeks a year.

You HAVE to look at the pictures of this one…and someone please tell me the story behind this property! 😉

Sunday Morning

“Located on this 3.3 acre property is a separate two-storey guest house / artist’s studio, garage, greenhouse, and a truly amazing salt water heated swimming pool built into the existing rock face. You can enjoy the outdoors from one of thee decks and a screened-in sunroom. The house features high ceilings including cathedral ceilings upstairs, ash floors in the living and dining rooms, wrought iron railings, and wood from a house boat that broke up in a storm, owned by the original occupants. There is attention to detail in every room from a round stained glass window by Gary Grant to sinks from Mexico and one made down the road at Westcote Bell Pottery. There are trails through the woods that take you down to the salt marsh and water’s edge or along the cliff edge from the studio or past the haskap and Saskatoon berries and pear trees. The greenhouse provides kale and arugula even through the winter months. The views from the kitchen, living room, and the built-in king size captain’s bed in the master bedrooom are ever-changing and uplifting. In the morning you can see the sunrise through the upstairs bathroom and in the evening watch the sunset with a glass of wine from the deck. The reflection of the full moon on the still waters is inspirational. If you wish to relax around the pool or watch the osprey dive from the deck or take your canoe or kayak on a gentle paddle around the islands, it is all possible here. And, there are five beaches within an easy drive, not to mention the LaHave Bakery and its traditional Queen Elizabeth squares just five minutes away.”
