Sunday Morning Coffee

Sunday morning I usually grab a coffee and take time to catch-up on some stories I may not have had time to read throughout the week.  I thought you might enjoy them with your Sunday morning coffee as well.

Artists band together in donation campaign for Ukraine

A group of local artists have come together to raise funds for the people of Ukraine. The Lunenburg Art Gallery and Quartet Gallery in Lunenburg are supporting the cause by showcasing the pieces. They also have a Facebook page with more info on the pieces that are sale.

The artists have donated original works in a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolour and photography. All proceeds from the sales are donated to the Canadian Red Cross to support people who have been tragically impacted by the ongoing struggle in Ukraine.

Artists who would like to donate some work, and anyone wanting to buy an art piece, is advised to contact Rosson at 902 209- 8470 or suerosson@icloud.com

Interest in vegetable gardening on the rise in Nova Scotia as food prices increase

People growing their own food jumped 20% during the pandemic and there is evidence that with rising food costs, even more Canadians will be gardening this year.

For beginner gardeners, it is important to know how much space is available for growing, and “the most important thing is understanding what you want to grow,” says Farley. “You want to grow what you eat.”

Lunenburg, Nova Scotia

A perfect family home located in Lunenburg, walking distance to the school and downtown. A back deck that looks out onto the backyard, with a fire pit and vegetable garden, would be the perfect place to hang out this summer.

A lovely family home in New Town Lunenburg on a south facing lot, almost an acre in size. The rooms are bright and cheerful, and the layout is perfect for a family, with the parent’s bedroom on the main level, and the children upstairs. The property has enjoyed numerous upgrades in the past few years. Starting with the basics – a new septic system in 2019, a renovated kitchen, with new floor, plumbing and insulation, and all new appliances, except for the stove. There is a fresh coat of paint throughout for a beach-house feel. The sunny side of the roof was re-shingled in 2020. Last but not least, there is a new, spacious back deck, overlooking the sloping land, which already features a small garden that could be extended to feed a family all season long. All this is walking and biking distance to downtown.
