South Shore Scenery- King Street Court, Bridgewater

Small towns all along the South Shore each have their own personality and charm. It can be the people, the businesses and festivals, or coffee shops and restaurants. What often identifies a town as well, are their green spaces, playgrounds and parks. Sometimes they can feel like hidden gems just waiting to be discovered. Welcome to one of my favourite spaces in the town of Bridgewater, King Street Court.

King Street Court

This riverside park is tucked away, off of King Street,  down a set of steps, or ramp,  where you come upon a beautiful gazebo, gardens and amphitheatre. In between both bridges, it overlooks the Lahave River with a perfect view of the fountain.

King Street Court is an ideal setting for musical entertainment, events, the Afterglow Art Festival, or to visit after a stop at the Bridgewater Farmers Market. I know it’s a popular spot for photos during prom season and has even been booked for weddings. It’s also a lovely place to have your lunch or to sit and enjoy a book. There is a table and benches to sit on and appreciate the scenery.

Green Spaces

There are environmental benefits to having dedicated green spaces in a town. Research has shown that green spaces foster improved mental and physical health and well-being. Having a spot where people can access the water and enjoy the landscape is important. This park is a gem in the towns many green spaces and parks.

King Street Court- Accessibility

King Street Court has a ramp leading from the street down to the courtyard area making this green space also accessible to those with mobility challenges. Such an important and valuable feature for a space like this. Well done!

King Street Court

A short distance from the CO3 co-working space, makes it a great midday break to stretch, take a walk to King Street Court. Order supper from Jac’s Burgers and Shakes and have a picnic right next door.  Have visitors staying? Stroll down King Street and take them on a tour of all the parks and green spaces, including the award-winning Pijinuiskaq Park, and Shipyards Landing.  So much to see and enjoy all off of one Main Street.
