How Blogjam Helped Me Become a Fulltime Blogger and Why I Can’t Wait to Go Again!

The countdown is on to one of my favorite fall events. Is it weird to call a conference a “favorite event”? 😉 Blogjam 2017 is almost here and I couldn’t be more excited! Back in 2015 when Blogjam was getting ready to host their first ever conference, I had been working away on setting up Simple Local Life and was nervously waiting to hit publish on my first ever blog post. The timing was perfect, I meet so many great bloggers that day…many of whom I now consider friends…and my new gig as a blogger began.

Blogging can be a bit of a solitary job. There’s a lot of working from home, but I am also a community member at CO3, a beautiful, welcoming co-working space. There’s a lot of coffee…but lucky for me…I love coffee. I am a part of ECM Media which is a wonderful network and support.  I have learned SO much since my first year blogging and in the past year when I turned my blog into a business! Things are always changing and there’s always more to learn in this world of digital marketing and story-telling, which is another reason why I love going to Blogjam.

Blogjam 2017 once again has a full schedule of terrific speakers and presenters covering everything from content creation, social media tips, business plan development, how to pitch…and more!  The hardest part is definitely deciding which sessions to attend…they all sound good! I am so proud of the Blogjam Team made up of Renne, Kerra, Krista and Michelle. It’s no small feat to pull off a conference like this. I know they put countless hours in and it shows. 🙂

Several people have talked to me about having an interest in starting a blog over the last 2 years. I’m happy to talk to anyone about blogging, but if it is something you’ve ever considered, I highly recommend you attend Blogjam. Blogging is a lot of work…which may not be so obvious…but I guarantee that attending Blogjam will leave you inspired, motivated and ready to take action!

The deadline to purchase  tickets for Blogjam 2017 is coming up! November 2nd is the last day to grab a ticket for this years event. Blogjam is being held at The Prince George this year and they have a special rate for Blogjam attendees. If you don’t want to stay over, it’s a one day conference held on a Sunday and over by 4:30pm, so for most people you can hit the road and be back home that night.

I’m going in the night before and staying over, so I can also attend their food photography workshop being hosted by Rio and Michelle Doucette Photography. I can’t wait!

Did I mention my room-mate is my friend Lori of Farm Fresh Style…who I met at the first Blogjam in 2015! We’ve been blogging buddies ever since. She twisted my arm into attending our first ever ECM event and we’ve been paintingworking with flowers, hanging out at Oceanstone and connecting occasionally over coffee ever since….last time at Fancy Pants Cafe!  Now we’re going to be roomies…I can’t wait! 🙂

Blogjam is always held close to  my blog anniversary. Without attending that first one…meeting some of the girls from ECM Media…and developing true friendships with many bloggers from Atlantic Canada…I’m quite sure I wouldn’t be where I am today with my blog. I love blogging…I love writing and sharing all that we have to offer here on the South Shore…and I love the supportive community of bloggers we have here. Thanks Blogjam for being a part of all of it!

If you’ve ever thought about blogging for yourself or your business than you should definitely attend Blogjam. If you have any questions about attending…just send a message…and we can chat!  I love blogging…I love my blogger friends…and I love Blogjam…I feel like a pretty lucky girl. 🙂

  1. This is amazing! I’m so thrilled that BlogJam can be a part of your blogging journey. I think that means that you’ve just gotta be a speaker one of these days! You’re so amazing and everyone needs to know it!

    • Oh Krista…you’re sweet! I was “this” close to applying to be a speaker this year, but we had some family stuff happening and I just couldn’t get myself to make a decision. Maybe next year…xo

  2. This makes me so excited for the conference! It’s my first year attending and I can’t wait! But HOW will I ever decide which sessions to go to?!?!?!?

  3. Thanks for this Jennifer. Looks very interesting. So far my blog has been a very personal exploration of my own life, although there always seems to be something in my stories that is helpful to someone. Originally it was just a creative outlet and occasionally supportive or promoting my coaching work. It was rarely a “how to”. But now that I have closed the doors on coaching and am returning to more artistic/photographic pursuits, I am wondering what direction to take my blog, and wanting to learn more about how blogs relate to business and about when to monetize a blog itself. Would love to take you out for coffee and a chat! And perhaps go to this conference. Thank you.

    • I’d love a coffee and chat sometime Mary. Definitely consider attending Blog jam if you really want to hear from others all about the wonderful world of blogging. 🙂 Email or call me anytime.

  4. I am so excited to attend BlogJam for the first time this year. I know it will be the kick in the butt that I need to het my blog back on track. Can’t wait to see you too!!
