Sunday Morning Coffee

Sunday mornings I usually take time to catch up on stories I may not have time to read through the week. Thought I would share some that caught my eye this week, maybe you will enjoy them with your Sunday morning coffee as well.

The Maritime Bhangra Group is positively powerful | Well Being Guide | Halifax, Nova Scotia | THE COAST

I have been enjoying the Maritime Bhangra Group video’s ever since the Peggy’s Cove one surfaced. They have only gotten better and continue to make you feel warmth and joy…even with shovels in hand. I loved reading more about this group, especially the fact that each video clip is created to raise funds for various causes, including diseases like ALS. Now I love them even more! If you haven’t seen their video’s before, you have to check them out…pure happiness!

Hasmeet Singh Chandok is an unabashed optimist. His penchant for bright colours hints at this, but the full depth of his sunny outlook is fully revealed within minutes of meeting him. “There is so much kindness in this world that we don’t realize,” he says, waving his hand.

The best book you’ve never heard of on … the beliefs that guide your life – Modern Mrs. Darcy

January is a great time to get lost in a book and I am so intrigued by the sounds of this one, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success sounds fascinating. Over the last few months, I have practiced changing my mindset over a few different circumstances, and it is amazing how purposely shifting my thoughts can turn a negative into a positive. The best news, we have the power to do this! It made Modern Mrs.Darcy’s Best Book You’ve Never Heard of Series. She may be onto something, as I had never heard of this book. 😉

Some people believe their characteristics are carved in stone. (“I’m not good at math,” or “My reflexes aren’t fast enough to play soccer.”) These people believe everyone was born with a certain amount of skill, or quality, or intelligence, and these things can’t be changed. Dweck calls this a “fixed mindset.”Others believe that whoever or whatever they are, right now, is just a starting point. They believe people can change over time, improving their natural skills, talents, and abilities through deliberate effort and purposeful engagement. Dweck calls this a “growth mindset.”
