What’s Happening on the South Shore this Weekend (Oct 23-25, 2020)

This weekend the South Shore is getting ready for Hallowe’en with numerous events with a spooky tone to them! Paint a pumpkin, take a Haunted Trail Walk in Blandford, or join a Haunted Walking Tour of Lunenburg. These are just a few of the things you can take part in this weekend. Oct 23 – Kids Halloween Craft Workshop (Shelburne)

Get in the Halloween spirit with the Shelburne Municipal Recreation & Parks Dept. and their Free Kids Halloween Craft Workshop this Saturday 9:30-11am at the Shelburne Community Centre. Suitable for ages 7+, this is a drop-off program, parents are not required to stay. Space is limited. Tables will be spread apart, but participants should bring a mask with them. Oct 23 – Clickity Clack Knitting Group (Bridgewater)

Calling all knitters and crocheters, experienced or learning. You are invited to Clickty-Clack Knitting Group this Friday from 10am-12pm at the DesBrisay Museum. Instruction for beginners and socialization for the more experienced knitters. Some supplies are available and lots of patterns for beginners. Join them for a relaxing morning of knitting/crocheting and chatting.

Oct 23 – Artist Talk with Guy Hobbs (Brdgewater)

Come by the DesBrisay Museum to learn more about the journey and process of wildlife artist Guy Hobbs from 1-3pm on Friday. Guy Hobbs is an entirely self taught artist who specializes in wildlife art. His paintings are collected internationally and he has won a number of prestigious awards and accolades. The exhibition will be open from October 5 to November 6.

Oct 23 – Haunted Trail Walk (Blandford)

You are invited to the 2nd Annual Blandford “Haunted Trail”at the District #1 Community Centre, in Blandford this Friday from 7pm to 9pm. Experience the darker side of the Community Centre Trail. Please no lining up early. Small groups will go through with a guide to maintain physical distancing.  No touching! It may not be suitable for the very young. It is sponsored by the Aspotogan Recreation Association.  It is no admission price but donations will be welcomed. Raindate is Friday, October 30th.

Oct 23 – Humans vs Zombies Tag (Shelburne)

Join The Shelburne Municipal Recreation & Parks Dept. for their annual Humans vs. Zombies game this Friday from 3pm-4:30pm- Welkum Park, For Grades 4-6, this event is FREE. Staff will be on-site until 5pm for late pick up, if needed. Rain or Shine. Oct 23 – Ludwig a the LAMP (Lunenburg)

Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance invites you to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Beethoven with a special concert series. This Friday LAMP presents the Piano Sonatas performed by Walter Delahunt, Marika Bournaki, David Potvin, Lala Lee, Ian Tomaz and Tong Wang. All concerts begin at 7 pm unless otherwise noted. Attendance will be capped at 50 with attendees seated in bubbles of one-to-four persons. Oct 24 – All Levels Vinyasa (Flow) Yoga (New Germany)

Yoga with Lisa presents All Levels Vinyasa Yoga, this Saturday at 9am. An outdoor class overlooking the LaHave River with plenty of space and shade. The class is designed for someone new to yoga or someone with yoga experience. Each class will be in the style of vinyasa (flow) connecting breath and movement between postures. Please pre-register via email to ensure your spot. Bring your mat, blanket, any props you like to use, and water. Classes are $10 or $45 for a 5 class pass

Oct 24 – Various Variegations Knitting Workshop (Chester)

Oct 24 – A Tale on Two Wheels (Bridgewater)

The Town of Bridgewater Recreation Department in partnership with DesBrisay Museum and Gale Force Theatre are delighted to present: A Tale on Two Wheels! A whimsical performance made for children ages 2-6 that’s delivered by tandem bicycle! There will be two performances this Saturday 11am and 2pm in Woodland Gardens behind the museum. Performances are 35 minutes in length. Please bring blanket or chair to sit on. Everyone is welcome but please keep in mind that we do need to follow COVID-19 restrictions and limitations while in an outdoor setting Social/physical distancing will be required. There is no cost to attend this event. 

Oct 24 – Pumpkin Painting and Some (not so spooky) Spooky Fun! (Western Shore)

Oct 24 – South Shore Drive in presents “Hocus Pocus” (Liverpool)

South Shore Drive In are super excited to be showing a Halloween classic, Hocus Pocus!, this Saturday. A curious youngster moves to Salem, where he struggles to fit in before awakening a trio of diabolical witches that were executed in the 17th century. Show time at Hank Snow Community Park, is at Dusk (7pm), with parking and concessions opening at 6pm. Admission is $10, and concessions and washrooms are available on site .

Oct 24 – The Acousticats live at Mulligan’s (Bridgewater)

Mulligans Sports Bar presents The Acousticats, Halifax #1 Party Trio. Taking the stage this Saturday from, 7-11pm. Good food, cool drinks and great music. $5 cover for this event.

Oct 24 – Thunderkiss live at the Firkenstein (Bridgwater)

FirkenStein Brewing favourites Thunderkiss are back for another night of fun this Saturday. Taking stage at 8pm, if you have seen them before, then you know it is a fun night.

Oct 25 – All Levels Vinyasa Yoga (Bridgewater)

Yoga with Katherine  presents an All Levels Vinyasa Yoga Class held in an outdoor setting. Moving with our breath, we will build heat in the body with sun salutations and explore classic hatha yoga postures. You must register and pay for class ahead of time to hold your spot. Classes are $10 each or you can purchase a 5 class pass for $45! Payments for classes must be sent through EMT. Oct 25 – Sipekne’katik Fundraiser Movie Night at Ploughman’s Lunch (West Dublin)

The Ploughman’s Lunch in West Dublin is hosting a Fundraiser Movie Night this Sunday from 6-10pm. Food, fire, movies, all funds to support Sipekne’katik fishing fund and frontline fund. Wear your mask. If the weather is bad we will announce a rain date. Bring your own blanket!

Oct 25 – Wild Axe Lumberjacks Axeperiences (Barrington)

The season is almost over for you, your friends and families to enjoy a Lumberjack Axperience with Wild Axe. Be a lumberjack for a day with World Champion lumberjack, Darren Hudson. Located at his Wild Axe Park along the Barrington River, this location is sure to offer an experience like no other in North America! There are a number of experiences you can choose from, and they are running until Oct 31st. Check out their website for all the details.
