Sunday Morning Coffee

Sunday morning I usually grab a coffee and take time to catch-up on some stories I may not have had time to read throughout the week.  I thought you might enjoy them with your Sunday morning coffee as well.

South Shore Ready Mix donates $250k to South Shore Hospital Redevelopment

Fundraising continues on the redevelopment project at the South Shore Regional Hospital and South Shore Ready Mix just stepped with a $250 000 donation on behalf of their employees.

“You can hire truck drivers, but you need people who know what they are doing and to be pleasant when they’re on-site, we’ve had those employees for years and this is a way of giving back to them,” Bonang said. “We employ around 60-80 people in the area, all of whom have families and friends that rely on the hospital for vital services,”.

The redevelopment of South Shore Regional Hospital will expand the footprint of the existing hospital by almost 30%, and will provide bright, modern, functional new spaces that include a new Emergency Department, renewed and enlarged Endoscopy and Day Surgery Units, a new Dialysis and a MRI.

Locals volunteer in Poland in aid of Ukraine

Lynn Hennigar and her partner Adrian Bohach recently returned from 10 days in Poland volunteering at a warehouse where they helped sort and repackage humanitarian aid that made its way across the border to Ukraine citizens in need.

While some volunteers were there by means of commercial or non-profit entities, Hennigar said most of the warehouse volunteers were Ukrainian women who left their homeland for safety as their spouses had to stay and fight the Russians. “We met one family who escaped by car,” she said. “There is a real sense of urgency and need behind this (humanitarian) work.”
