Sunday Morning Coffee

Sunday morning I usually grab a coffee and take time to catch-up on some stories I may not have had time to read throughout the week.  I thought you might enjoy them with your Sunday morning coffee as well.

A prescription for nature

Supported by their provincial health authorities, physicians and other health professionals have expanded their toolkits to include prescriptions for patients to spend time outdoors. This is a really incredible example of being proactive with regards to our health and recognizing the benefits of spending time in nature.

Shannon Johnson, PhD, is on a mission to inspire people to get outside. She’s a Halifax-based clinical psychologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Dalhousie, and her research is dedicated to understanding the mental and cognitive benefits for people who spend time in and connect with nature.

Top 10 Things to Do in Nova Scotia

Aimée Wimbush-Bourque of Simple Bites, moved to Nova Scotia 4 years ago with her family and has spent a lot of time travelling from one end of the province to the other and has put together a fantastic list of places to go and see. Included are indicators of time/ages/budget/popular or hidden gem, with additional recommendations throughout of things that teens might enjoy.

Pick out a few places you would like to see this year, put them on your calendar and get out there and enjoy everything this amazing province has to offer!

There is so much to see and do in Canada’s Ocean Playground, it was hard to narrow it down. Believe me when I say that this is the edited version! I’m not linking to absolutely everything; just make Google your friend! Insider’s tip? Always call ahead to see if places are open, especially in rural areas.
