Sunday Morning Coffee

Sunday morning I usually grab a coffee and take time to catch-up on some stories I may not have had time to read throughout the week.  I thought you might enjoy them with your Sunday morning coffee as well.

With a visit from Dr. Strang, Halifax boy meets his hero

With all the news and press conferences from this week, feeling a bit heavy, what a lovely story to see. Dr.Strang, who has pretty much reached cult level status here in our province, stopped to visit a boy who has a cleft lip and palate, the same condition he had as a child.

It’s not hard to see Dr.Strang’s character come through during his press briefings, and this was just the story we all needed after news of surges, restrictions and bubbles breaking. Thank you Dr. Strang for everything you do!

GAIL LETHBRIDGE: Heartwarming COVID-test lineup proves the much-maligned kids are alright

I was so happy to read this piece about the young people who after being asked, stood in line ups to get tested for Covid. Bars and restaurants were allowed to be open. Young people go to them. There is no fault in that. Shaming them is not helpful.

My point here is that not all kids in this generation fit the spoiled, entitled, privileged characterization. They are not all super-spreaders.

As Dr. Strang himself said: “It’s not about naming and shaming.” The pandemic problem will not be resolved by unloading on kids who may not be receiving the same public health messages through their channels.
