Sunday Morning Coffee

Sunday morning I usually grab a coffee and take time to catch-up on some stories I may not have had time to read throughout the week.  I thought you might enjoy them with your Sunday morning coffee as well.

Red Dress campaign marks 2019 International Women’s Day

There were many wonderful events along the South Shore this week to mark International Women’s Day. Grade 9 students at North Queens Community School are taking part on the Red Dress Campaign,  a national project aimed at drawing attention to the high rate of missing and murdered women among Canada’s Indigenous population.

How a Nova Scotia chef turns land and sea into works of art

I really love these new CBC profiles that include a video, this one made by Dave Culligan and Gavin Hatheway, former PVEC graduate.

Stephanie Ogilvie is an artist in every way. Not only in the way she gathers ingredients and prepares meals, but her presentation is just stunning. Besides being a chef at Black Sheep Restaurant, she runs Hop Scotch Dinner Club from her home. Love the dinner club idea…and the name.

Stephanie was inspired by her watching her grandmother in the kitchen. Through the power of social media, just imagine all the people Stephanie is now inspiring. Incredible.

You Could Live Here!

237 Huey Lake Rd LaHave

Imagine at the end of a long week, you walk in, light a fire in the double-sided fireplace and pour yourself a glass of wine from the Petite Riviere Winery you picked up on the way home.  You start dinner in a stunning kitchen that would make any chef happy. While dinner is simmering, grab your guitar and head to your sound proof 300 sq ft room, featuring a 8×17 loft and play a few tunes to welcome in the weekend. After dinner, you join the family and head outside to enjoy the fire pit and the starry night, surrounding by trees and nature. This is living.

Private, with over 19 acres of land, minutes from Lahave Bakery and beautiful Rissers and Crescent Beach, this exceptionally built home, could provide the solace you’re craving. From a  maintenance free exterior to geothermal powered in-floor heating,  this is a remarkable home with too many features to list. You have to check this one out.
