Meal Plan Monday

Some weekends are crazier than the week they follow. I just finished two full days of running to events, writing blog posts, social media shares, hockey games and an all day conference an hour from where I live…on very little sleep. Oh boy…am I ready for a new week! 😉 Welcome to Meal Plan Monday!

Even with a meal plan, I struggled this weekend with meals for everyone. But, so is life. Everyone survived, no one starved, it all got done and we lived to tell the tale. Presenting a lovely meal plan each week doesn’t mean that I always have the time to even make the meal, but knowing this is on occasional occurrence, rather than the norm, makes it easier to roll with it. Go easy on yourself, but if scrambling every day is your norm, you can take control of it. Take 15 minutes and make a quick meal plan before you get groceries. Don’t even have time for that? No worries…I made a plan for you. 🙂

This week’s meal plan is from The Atlantic Superstore.

Here’s what we’re having:

Chicken Parmesan

Cheesy Chili Soup

Pork Sirloin Roast with Potatoes and Cauliflower

Shrimp and Feta Pasta Toss

Here’s what I bought:

Hunts Pasta Sauce- $1.25
Alymer Diced Tomatoes (2)- $2.50
Unico Red Kidney Beans- $1.39
Campbell’s Chicken Broth- $1.25
Barilla Fettuccine- $1.69
Barilla Penne- $1.69
Marble Cheddar Cheese- $5.49
3 lbs carrots- $1.49
Cauliflower- $3.49
Celery- $2.69
Pork Sirloin Roast- $6.01
Club Pack Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts- $15.33
PC Raw, Peeled Shrimp- $6.88
Holmstead Feta- $5.99

Total Spent: $57.14

Here’s what I had:

onions – Cheesy Chili Soup and Shrimp Pasta
chili powder- Cheesy Chili Soup
Parmesan cheese- Chicken Parmesan
olive oil- Chicken Parmesan
basil- Chicken Parmesan
1 1/2 Cups shredded mozzarella cheese- Chicken Parmesan
4 garlic cloves- Shrimp Pasta
oregano – Shrimp Pasta
Potatoes
Salt and Pepper

There were several items I bought which will last beyond this week, like the cheese’s and 2-3 chicken breasts that I will freeze as the start of a future meal. The carrots and celery will also be used in next week’s meal plan. It probably balances out with items I had at home, like the mozzarella cheese, onions, potatoes, etc. So this week’s meal plan on average cost me what I spent, which was $57.14.

It is possible to feed your family real food on a budget. You just need a plan. Have a great week!
