Sunday Morning Coffee

Sunday mornings I usually grab a cup of coffee and take time to catch up on stories I might have missed throughout the week. I thought you might enjoy them with your Sunday Morning Coffee as well.

The shoe must go on | City | Halifax, Nova Scotia | THE COAST

I loved reading this and in fact plan to read it again when I have time. There is just something quaint and charming about this story. There are people like this…but few and fewer…who are still working away independently at their craft. Go visit them…say hello…give them your business. I’m willing to bet you’ll be glad you did.

Nestled between two restaurants, shoebox-sized Quinpool Shoe Repair looks today as it has for 59 years. Two windows take up the entire storefront, but you can’t get a clear view of the inside. The glass is crowded with stickers: A black jaguar with red eyes and thick yellow letters spelling out the shop’s name and number. Quinpool Road is home to fast-food joints, tattoo parlours, the Oxford theatre, flower shops, construction zones and cafes. Yet, the liveliest place on this main street may be a shoe repair shop. What a great Sunday Morning Coffee story.
