Sunday Morning Coffee

Sunday mornings I usually grab a Sunday Morning Coffee and take time to catch up on stories I may not have time to read through the week. I thought I would share some that caught my eye this week, that you might enjoy with your Sunday Morning Coffee as well.

LighthouseNow: Floating a new life in Chester

I love this story. Recognizing that they were missing out on life, they took a leap and moved their family to a less stressful, more fulfilling lifestyle here on the South Shore. Of course I’m always curious how this first conversation goes between a couple…”Honey…I have this idea…” 😉 Now I want to take a Kayak tour of Chester. 🙂

As someone who had a roaring DJ business spinning tunes at parties of the Who’s Who in Toronto, Piers Baker was told he was “crazy” in 2013, when he and his wife pushed the off button on their life in the big city and moved to Chester. Referring to the Jack Nicholson film, he laughs and recalls friends asking incredulously, “‘Do you know how small that place is? It’s going to be like The Shining in the winter.'” “But when we came it was completely the opposite. I felt like I was finally where I was su

The push for international students to make Nova Scotia their home | CBC News

It only makes sense that with the high numbers of international students we have attending university here in Nova Scotia, that we focus on keeping some of these students here after they graduate. This is a great story with many positive outcomes.

Victoria Jin was looking for more than just another academic degree when she chose to continue her education by living in Canada. After her undergraduate schooling in her home country of China, the business major set out to find a place where she could get the complete Canadian experience.

You Could Live Here!

1565 East Port L’Hebert, East Port L’Hebert, Nova Scotia

OK…this is a project with a lot of potential! A separate cabin you can live in while you work on the former church. Super cool, close to a couple Provincial Parks and walking distance to sandy beaches…this could be someone’s dream property. Did I mention all of this is only $39 000!

Former church built in 1913 sitting on 21,000 sq. ft. lot has a new metal roof but is in need of renovations. There is also a nicely finished, more recently constructed cabin (8’2 x 12’3) which sits on a new concrete pad (11’8 x 24’9). A second outbuilding (8′ x 6′) houses a composting toilet. There is currently no well or septic. The property fronts on a municipal road with immediate access to electric and phone utilities. Located on Nova Scotia’s south shore and backing onto property owned by the Nature Conservancy of Canada. This area is inhabited by many international cottagers, is close to parks (Thomas Raddall Provincial Park and Kejimkujik Seaside Adjunct), the Sandy Bay Nature Reserve, and The Harrison Lewis Coastal Discovery Centre. It is within walking distance of sandy beaches and the fishing port of East Port L’Hebert (think lobster).
