Sunday Morning Coffee

Sunday mornings I usually take some time to read stories I may not have time for through the week. I plan to share some of my favourite stories here so that you might catch up on them as you enjoy a Sunday Morning Coffee!

Hockey Mom… – Curtains are Open

OK, I have to confess, I saw the title of this post, and the beginning few sentences, and I knew I had to wait until I could handle reading it. We are in the same boat with hockey almost coming to an end for us, and I feel mixed emotions about it all. It’s been a huge part of our life and family. Curtains are Open wrote a great piece about being a Hockey Mom. Go have a read…and have tissues handy.

We are defined by the labels we give ourselves and in 2003, as I sat in Centennial Arena for the very first time on a cold, early, Saturday morning…I became a hockey mom.

Speaking of hockey…our family bought passes and enjoyed many of the Sledge Hockey Games held here in Bridgewater during the 2016 World Sledge Challenge last week. What an event! What a sport! What community support! It was all amazing thanks to the many people who LighthouseNow wrote about and mentioned in this weeks editorial. Hope for our communities indeed.

The only thing that wasn’t perfect was the final score of the gold medal game. That said, both Team Canada and Team U.S.A. played so well in that overtime thriller that it was a shame either side had to settle for silver. There are many others deserving gold medals for their work in bringing the 2016 World Sledge Hockey Challenge to Lunenburg County, and then staging a very successful week-long event.

1640 Port Medway Road, Port Medway Nova Scotia Property Details

Anytime we have been down to Port Medway, I have commented on this building. It’s beautiful, unique, and it’s for sale…for only $77 500! With the success of the Port Grocer, this is a perfect time for someone to do something with this. At the very least buy it, then apply to one of the Reno shows on HGTV and ask for help. Could cause some excitement down this way if we had the Property Brothers spend some time here this summer. We don’t need them though, we have enough talented people here who I know could turn this into something spectacular.

This building is called Seally hall and had a ton of history. It’s here the dances and other community get togethers where held a century ago. I would love to see it restored and brought back to that concept !
