Sunday Morning Coffee

Sunday mornings I usually take time to catch up on stories I may not have time to read through the week. I thought I would share some that caught my eye this week, and maybe you’d like to read them with your Sunday morning coffee too.

Four Simple Living Benefits from Spending A Little More Time Outdoors

This time of year, there’s no reason to not be outside more. The weather this past week has been positively up-lifting…and there’s no bugs yet! There is so much evidence that spending time in nature is good for you, so do something nice for yourself…go for a walk/hike/picnic…and be thankful for all the beauty that surrounds us.

A walk in the woods or even just a quick trip to a park can help lessen depression and anxiety, reduce stress, improve short-term memory and reduce mental fatigue. Any time I need a boost in my mood, spending even five minutes in the sunshine will help. Imagine the benefits we receive from spending an entire day or even more outdoors.

Brooklyn shot putter Sarah Mitton looks for international breakthrough – Local Xpress

I love stories like this. We are a relatively small province and to have someone from the South Shore competing internationally, all while studying Biology at the University of Windsor…is impressive! We’ve seen a lot of people making their mark on the Track and Field stage, due to a committed team of amazing coaches we have here. Congrats to Sarah Mitton and her coach Tammy Gaudet for all their success so far. We’re all proud of you!

Sarah Mitton toils in obscurity, seeking the tiny improvements that will take her where she wants to go in track and field. If desire has anything to do with it, she’ll likely get there. The 20-year-old Mitton, from Brooklyn, Queens County, throws the shot put. She is completing her third year in biology at the University of Windsor and competed in the U Sports track and field championships, winning silver, last month.
