After watching one of my best friends struggle with breast cancer this year, I have a new-found respect for any child…and their parents… who have to endure a cancer diagnosis. It feels…unbearable. I do love this story about a simple request and how it has brightened Hailey and her families spirits. Take a moment and consider sending Hailey a card…if not this week…how about in the new year? After all the bright lights of Christmas are over, cancer and its treatments continue on for so many, and a little lift on some of those long days and weeks, would I’m sure, be appreciated.
In an age when Christmas wishes are increasingly digitized, nine-year-old Hailey Rodenhiser is breathing new life into the tradition of Christmas cards by post. A Facebook message posted November 24 by Hailey’s mother Juanita asked friends and family to send Christmas cards to cheer up her daughter, who is undergoing chemotherapy for leukemia.
