Sunday Morning Coffee

Sunday mornings I usually grab a cup of coffee, take some time to read stories I may not have time for through the week. I plan to share some of my favourite links here so that you might catch up on them with your Sunday morning coffee as well.

Two brothers, an idea and the great outdoors; Live Life in Tents sells local knowledge of Cape Breton | The Chronicle Herald

I like this idea and the ingenuity of these two brothers from Cape Breton. They recognize what people their age might be looking for and you all know when you travel, you get the best info from the locals. Good luck to Live Life in Tents!

Two Margaree brothers want to show the world what Cape Breton has to offer. Lee and Liam Fraser started their own adventure tourism business this summer — Live Life in Tents — which promotes outdoor trips solely in Cape Breton. “A lot of the tourism has classically been; ‘come check out to Cape Breton by bus and meet all the nice people’,” said Liam Fraser, 29, the younger of the two brothers. “When you actually speak to young people, they don’t understand that there’s a lot going on here.” Live Life in Tents offers travellers one to five-night trips, as well as custom trips and equipment rentals. The brothers will take care of everything your trip needs; from where to go and what to do and from where to stay to where to eat.

8 FANTASTIC WAYS TO PRESERVE FOOD THIS AUTUMN. | The Art of Doing Stuff

Have you met my good friend Karen, Canadian blogger from Ontario? I call her a friend, because I have been reading her blog for so long she feels like one. She gets “stuff” done…but more importantly…she’s hilarious. Her posts are always a great read and this one has some unique ideas on how to preserve some of your gardens harvest.

After running around like a lunatic this spring trying to get my two huge vegetable plots weeded, dug up and planted, my sister said something like “Well, at least you’ll be able to relax in the fall”. What the farg, hell, what, snapshow, say that again now? Be able to relax? Pftt. I looked down at the ground and gave my head a subtle shake, a faint smile curling on my lips. You’re so stupid, sister. Give your head a shake. For anyone who has a vegetable garden, spring planting is much like spring training. It’s just a little something to get you ready for the World Series for vegetable gardeners … Canning season.
