March Break Ideas for the South Shore

CSG Kids Ski Gear

Ok…how did this happen exactly? One minute I was taking the Christmas tree down, and the next thing you know I’m turning the calendar over to March. What! Time is like that. At this rate I better start planning our summer vacation…but before that…what about March Break? Here are some March Break ideas for the South Shore.

If you’re in Nova Scotia you never know what the weather will be like mid-March, so you might be looking to make some plans to keep the kids busy and having fun.

Atlantica Oak Island Resort

Atlantica Oak Island Resort is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re away, even when you’re close to home. They have a package which includes overnight accommodation, breakfast, swims, and indoor and outdoor camp favorites. Of course there’s always the pool too. If there’s any spare time maybe the kids can search for that darn treasure. 😉

Art Happening in Bridgewater

Looking for something new and creative for your child to enjoy over the Break? How about Needle Felting, Encaustic Wax Painting, or an Art Jam? One trip to Art Happening should cure the “I’m bored” syndrome that might occur. 😉

Check out their website for details, also note their Travelling Kindness Rock Painting Workshop which is a fundraiser for Art Happening. What a beautiful and inspiring project!

South Shore Public Libraries

OK…I want to sign up for one of the classes being offered at the South Shore Regional Library on March Break! Everything from building a PC, to March Math Madness, and even one on Minecraft! Needle Felting, Interactive Writing with Inkle and Jumbled Up, working with puzzles and on Hour of Code! Wow…a ton of offerings and something for almost everyone.

You need to call your library to register for most of these classes. Most are offered at the public libraries in Bridgewater, Lunenburg and Liverpool.

There is a lot happening at the Library for you to take part in during March and April, including plenty of activities for children and families during March Break – download your copy or get one at your local library!

White Point Beach Resort

Well, if there’s anyone who knows how to do March Break up right…it’s White Point Beach Resort. While the pool, beach and bunnies might be enough for some, there are “family feature events” each day as well. Gone Fishing, Canada Parks Day and my favorite, the Wild Axe Lumberjack Show! Did I mention the Games Room, Kid Zone and of course, the s’mores? White Point is a favorite for many families during March Break…it’s easy to see why.

Check out their schedule for all their March Break Fun at the Beach!

Ready…. Set … get ready for a GR8 March Break week at the beach!Pack your bathing suits (and mitts) and bring the family pets and make plans to have a fun March Break right here at White Point. We’ve got 10 fun-filled days ready to roll perfect for families of all shapes, sizes and interests.

The Lunenburg Makery

Another fun option for those who are creative is one of the workshops offered at The Lunenburg Makery. Needle felting, open knitting circle, and a stitched dinosaur fossil pouch are some of the classes being offered during March Break.

Call ahead to reserve a spot…these usually fill up quickly! 🙂

Workshops that we currently have scheduled are listed below with dates and times. Note that we need at least three participants for a program to run so please observe the “Register by” dates.

Gary L Wentzell March Break Tournament

If you have a kid in hockey, March Break means one thing…a hockey tournament! There’s lots of action to catch here on the South Shore with the always popular Gary L. Wentzell March Break Tournament. Come cheer the kids on and support our young athletes as they battle for 1st place. It’s a lot of fun!

March Break Community Skate

There are usually a few Community Skates on the Break, and here’s one being sponsored by Huestis Insurance Group. A great way to finish off the Break with some skating, hot chocolate and Treats. This skate is being held at the Lunenburg Arena on March 19th from 3:00pm-4:00pm.

Ross Farm

Oh my…I can’t tell you how many times I’ve taken my kids to Ross Farm on March Break. I…I mean …THEY…loved it! 😉 Fun on the farm, Springtime, New babies…every day sounds amazing! There are also treats and weather permitting, sleigh rides. See you there!

Come out for March Break on the farm. Each day will have a theme relating to the farm. As always there will be lots of hands on activities for everyone to enjoy and crafts that everyone can participate in throughout the day. Hot chocolate will be served. Weather permitting, there will be sleigh rides.

Thanks to all the organizers, volunteers and facility operators who work hard to plan special events and programming during this time. Lots of options to keep everyone happy during the March Break without even leaving the South Shore! Enjoy….and remember…it’s supposed to be a “break”. Curling up with a good book, watching a movie at home or going coasting, all sound good too. 🙂
