Let’s Meet for Lunch- Little Red Barn, Wileville, NS

I love a good red and white checkered tablecloth. Like…seriously…love it. It’s just warm and inviting and makes me think of picnics and gathering together. And food…good food. Good news…The Little Red Barn can help with all of that! 🙂

 The Little Red Barn

The Little Red Barn is located in Wileville, just on the outskirts of the town of Bridgewater and specializes in homemade pizza, oven baked subs and pasta. The owners Del and Irven spoke to me about their interest and focus on the local food economy and serving real food most of which is made in-house, at the Little Red Barn. You don’t become the #1 Pizza spot in town on Trip Advisor by chance. 🙂

 The Little Red Barn

After a health scare 15 years ago Irven started paying attention to what he was eating and made changes to his diet. This is reflected in most of the food they serve at the Little Red Barn. They cook their own chicken breasts, roasts and ham, they make their own pasta and pizza sauce with less sugar and salt than most, and also make their own dough for cookies and baked goods. Their sub buns are supplied by a local bakery and they have a strong commitment to “support where we live”.

 The Little Red Barn

When I stop at the Little Red Barn it’s usually for one of their oven baked subs. These are delicious, the buns alone make me blissfully happy, combined with your choice of meat, veggies and condiments, make you realize what real food tastes like and it doesn’t even compare to what so many people get used to eating at a franchise chain. On my last visit I got a black forest ham, oven roasted sub…oh my…SO good!

 The Little Red Barn

They are just a minute outside of town and Wileville isn’t known for traffic lights or too much congestion, so if you’re on a lunch break, a great option would be heading away from the busy town at that time and to the Little Red Barn. I’m sure you can have a delicious lunch and be back to work with plenty of time. Or how about grabbing a couple subs next time you’re headed to the beach or on a road trip? Perfect! If you’re looking for sweet, friendly service and some great local food be sure to check out the Little Red Barn. You’ll be glad you did!
