Let’s Meet for Coffee-The Interval Cafe- Bridgewater, NS

Chances are, through your personal or professional life, you will find yourself saying “Let’s meet for coffee…” at one time or another. You may just want to slip away yourself for a few quiet minutes to refresh, read, or do some work. Now…where to go? How about the Interval Cafe? Edited: The Interval Cafe has closed and Fancy Pants Cafe now resides there.

The Interval Cafe, whose tag line is “Unwind with us” is newly opened on the corner of Victoria Rd and King St. The colours, the atmosphere, the coffee…what a great addition to the downtown area of Bridgewater! Four women have pooled their talents to undertake this new venture, and I think it is brilliant. They are not going about this with a traditional business model, but I think that’s what is going to make this work.

What a lovely place to have a meeting, join some girlfriends for coffee, stop in for a little Mother-Daughter time, or a memorable first date. Do kids still “date” these days? 😉

There are lots of table/work spaces,(with free WiFi) combined with comfy chairs to snuggle in and read or just sit and reflect. They do not have take out mugs, so make sure to bring along a travel mug if you grabbing something to go.

OK…I want to have my next Board meeting here. 😉 Had a long week, how about starting your Saturday curled up back in this nook with some friends, sipping on a “Spirit Boost” ? What about grabbing some community builders, a cup of “Vision Quest” and work on your next project together? On the table they had an adult colouring book and some supplies. Now, this is how you unwind!

This is a local-supporting-local venture with French Press coffee roasted by Quest coffee, tea from the Tea Brewery in Mahone Bay, local art work on the walls, and some delicious treats that are catered by Cakes, etc.

I was there shortly after they opened at 9:00am, on a rainy dark February morning, so I was ready for a good cup of coffee. I had a French dark roast which really hit the spot. I just love their individual French press pots. After hearing about and taking pictures of the treats, I felt I had to try something. The Apple Sour Cream Coffee Cake was delicious!

I was fortunate enough to be able to talk to two of the owners while I was there. Their enthusiasm and vision for this space is inspiring. After spending some time there…I felt the positive energy that the owners were discussing with me. I left feeling rejuvenated and ready for the rest of my day.

The Interval Cafe is currently open Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9:00am-4:00pm. Like their Facebook page for more info and go “unwind” with them.

  1. Ohhh – I like it!! You had me at ‘Lets meet for coffee’ but the turquoise counter, atmosphere, adult colouring books, supporting local, french presses and no take-out cups all make me want to jump in the car for a road trip! Of course, I’d call you first to be sure you can meet for coffee!

This sounds great! LOVE that you do NOT have take-out cups… We see plenty of those in the ditches! I’ll be in soon. Do you offer any vegan snacks?

  3. Clare Parks

Hurray! We drive through Bridgewater regularly and have been bemoaning the lack of good coffee spots. We’ll definitely stop by.
