Let’s Meet for Coffee- The Barn Coffee and Social House- 458 Main St, Mahone Bay

Oh Mahone Bay…you get me every time. I love this sweet picturesque town …and I’ve long called it the “Stars Hollow” of the South Shore. (*Gilmore Girls reference) It’s a walk-able town, with markets, restaurants, The Hub co-working space, day spa’s, a craft brewery, and more! Did I mention the Three Churches and the Festivals? Seriously, there’s just so much to see and enjoy in this little coastal community, and now, they have The Barn Coffee and Social House.

The Barn Coffee and Social House

The Barn only had their “soft open” a little over a week ago and have been serving lovely cafe treats and food daily since. I was following along with their renovations and progression on their Facebook page, and knew I wanted to check it out as soon as I could. With a day off school…which made 4 of 5 that week… we needed to get out of the house, so my daughter and I picked up her friend and we zipped into Mahone Bay.

Walking into The Barn, you immediately feel at home. It has a warm, welcoming feel with its original wooden beams and floors, cozy seating areas and music softly playing in the background. Did I mention the coffee? It smells delicious in The Barn...snicker, snicker…with pastry treats and bread lined up. Latte’s, cappuccino’s, espresso’s, chai, hot chocolate and more, coming from behind the counter. They also have some daily food offerings like soup, chili, etc.

The Barn is located in the “Barn” next door to Suttles and Seawinds. I’ve heard of people who’ve done sewing in there in the past as well as helping to organize the Father Christmas Festival. I can think of no better use of this central location, than to turn it into a coffee and social house. It’s perfect!

I had an Americano which was brewed with North Mountain Coffee and it was delicious. The kind of “stuck in my house for 3 days…with kids home every day this week”….delicious, only a mother could understand. 😉 Seriously, it was just perfect. Can we talk about their mugs for a minute? I LOVE these mugs…I NEED one of these mugs in my life! This is the attention to detail that means a lot. Whoever took the time to pick out these mugs…thank you! 🙂

The girls had hot chocolate served with whip cream and a few chocolate chips sprinkled on top. When they weren’t busy giving me Instagram photo tips, they enjoyed their hot chocolate and rated it 10/10..and a resounding 12/10! I tried a sip…it was yummy!

The Barn Coffee and Social House

Every Barn needs a Barn door…and The Barn has one! The restroom is discreetly behind this beautiful sliding door. Well done!

Check out this sweet little corner with a wing chair re-done in burlap coffee sacks! Adorable!

Besides the cozy downstairs sitting areas and long tables, they have another sitting area upstairs in the loft. So many options to sit, connect, converse, have a meeting, do some work, laugh….and enjoy.

The Barn Coffee and Social House

I know their plan is to occasionally have live music in The Barn. With the high ceilings, I can imagine the acoustics would be fantastic! They have a video on their Facebook page of the first song played in The Barn….it’s beautiful…go find it and have a listen.

Congratulations to the owners on investing in this beautiful space and making it yet another reason to love Mahone Bay. Their attention to detail, delicious offerings, social and event hosting space, make The Barn one of the latest exciting openings here on the South Shore in 2017. Who wants to go hang out in The Barn with me? 😉

I have been following your opening thanks to local family reports. I can’t wait to visit the next time I come “home”.

Will be going to The Barn very soon with a couple of friends. Your page certainly reinforces what I’ve heard so far and it’s nice to see the pictures (my mouth is watering). And I agree with you about the mugs!!
