Let’s Meet for Coffee- Fancy Pants Cafe- 807 King St. Bridgewater, NS

I feel a kinship with the space on 807 King St in Bridgewater. It might be that a few months after I started my blog I wrote a post about a then just recently opened Interval Cafe, which due to several factors, got A LOT of feedback and attention, and to this day is still my most viewed post. It was sort of crazy, guess you could say it went “viral” in my Simple Local Life world. 😉

Fancy Pants Cafe

So after the ladies behind the very successful Interval Cafe decided to move on, I was a little heart-broken, but not for long, as word spread that Fancy Pants Cafe, which was already located at a different location on King St, was taking over the space. Exciting! Fancy Pants Cafe started in their previous location as a sort of parent/tot cafe with a specific soft play area that was very appealing to young families and any one else who desired a good cup of coffee/latte/lunch. They moved down to the current spot on King St, which has more space and parking. After trying to find the right time for a visit I finally got there for a Saturday breakfast date with my daughter Grace.

Local supporting local

The first thing you notice about the space is the clean, bright atmosphere. White walls, simple decor and the smell of freshly brewed coffee..and bacon!…are enough to warmly welcome you. Fancy Pants looks for many ways to collaborate with local farmers and producers. Last week on their Facebook page they spoke about a local producer who grows a crop of squash for seed, and how they work with them “to use the vegetables she grows for seed on our menu giving her crops a secondary income and simplifying her marketing work”. Local supporting local…what is not to love!

Besides all sorts of cafe offerings, including latte’s, espresso, smoothies, organic lemonade and cider, they have a breakfast and lunch menu, complete with a kids menu as well. They have also started take-home dinners with local, seasonal, organic ingredients. The take home dinners have included Chicken Pot Pie, Bacon Mac n’Cheese, Chana Masala with Jasmine Rice, and Veggie Chili & Cornbread to name a few. They often come with a delicious dessert as well. The take out dinners are available Mon-Friday from 4:00-5:30pm. A perfect solution for a busy weekday!

Breakfast

Grace and I went for breakfast and we both ordered a Smoky Bacon Breakfast Sandwich. A local egg, smoked cheddar, local bacon, organic shoot mix on a biscuit with mayo and Dijon….oh my…it was delicious! Grace is a little sensitive to egg, so I asked for hers without it, and then they offered a little extra cheese in place. Very nice!

I had a coffee as I really wanted to try the North Mountain Coffee they were serving. It was so good. Like….seriously good. Grace had the organic lemonade which she rated a “10” on the lemonade scale. 😉 It was just a lovely way to start our Saturday. Sun streaming in, soft music playing, delicious smells wafting, and supporting a local business, who is also supporting local. This is community. How lucky are we to have THIS community here on the South Shore?

Me…seriously happy Bridgewater has a cafe. 😉

Besides their philosophy of local, fresh, organic fare, their attention to detail also make Fancy Pants Cafe a delightful place to spend some time.
