Ham and Pea Pasta

Did you buy a ham this week? Are you wondering how to stretch that into another meal? This recipe for Ham and Pea Pasta is so quick and easy, you could have this on the table in about 20 minutes from start to finish. Getting home after work? Before you do anything start boiling a pot of water. Then go change/check messages/throw in the laundry…or heck pour yourself a glass of something “refreshing”…and whip up this simple meal. Pasta, ham, creamy sauce, what’s not to love?

Ham and Pea Pasta
Serves: 6
 
Great way to use up some leftover ham! Inexpensive, quick and easy meal.
Ingredients
  • 1 box of Barilla Farfalle (bow tie) pasta
  • salt
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1½ cups diced ham
  • 1½ cup frozen peas
  • ½ cup whipping cream
  • 1 cup of pasta water reserved from cooking the pasta
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • salt and pepper
Instructions
  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil
  2. Add salt and pasta to the pot
  3. Cook until it is al dente, or still just a tiny bit firm
  4. Drain the pasta, saving 1 cup of the liquid
  5. While the pasta is cooking, melt the butter in a large saucepan on the stove
  6. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes
  7. Stir in the ham and frozen peas
  8. Stir in 1 cup of the reserved pasta water, cream, Parmesan cheese and salt and pepper
  9. When the pasta is ready, toss with the sauce and serve
